I just finished my 1911 project today.

She started life as a GI spec Rock Island Armory. I fitted and installed:
Ed Brown Grip Safety
Ed Brown Tactical Thumb Safety
Ed Brown Hammer and Strut
Ed Brown Sear and Disconnector
10-8 Flat Trigger
Springfield Armory Checkered Mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop
Complete set of Wolf springs
Strider Gunner Grips w/ "SLEX" screws

I had a smith friend cut the slide and we installed Heine Straight Eight "Ledge" sights

A buddy and I then parkerized it and then applied Gunkote over that.

I'm pretty happy with it. I might do another one and try fitting my own slide and barrel.

Re: My 1911

Great looking pistol. Nice job on doing the work your self. I'm not sure that I like the trigger either. I like the fact that it's solid over the one like mine has with 3 holes in it but, then again I've never tried a flat trigger either.

I'm gonna try a flat trigger one of these days.

Pistol looks really nice! Anyone know if YoBo sold that sight design to Heine? I run the YoBo on one of my 1911's and really like it!

I might add that I resisted it forever, but it's an essential modification. </div></div>

I thought about it but I don't want to add any length to the grip, she already has a tough "print" to hide.

The Brown magwell is removable with nothing more than an allen wrench. I have it on both of my guns, and it worked out nicely for me so I can remove it if I want to carry the gun.

I've found that I was perfectly happy with it on there, though, even when I do carry it.
