Got a custom .260 built by the guys at thunder valley precision. Rifle has over a thousand rounds through it and has been very accurate and very well built. Surgeon M591, kreiger 28" MTU McMillian A-5 jewell trigger. So, blew a primer and the jewell was shot so I took it to GAP and they put in a new tuned X-Mark. Took it out that weekend and shot it and it never shot so good. I was very pleased. Put it in the case with the bolt out and it stayed there for maybe a month till I got home to my ammo that I had ran out of. Thats why no shooting was done before. When I got home it won't fire. I will barely dent the SW ammo 260 rounds. The spring sounds real weak compared to my factory Rem M700's. Can the springs weaken from being held back? Please help me. THis is one of my main go to rifles and really want to get her back up to a good bill of heath. All help is greatly appreciated.

If only the trigger was damaged, why did you send it to GAP? And second why did you go with X trigger? Check and make sure firing pin tip isn`t broke. Do you have another FP spring to try? Leaving a bolt in the cocked position can make it weak but not in 1 month`s time.

Pull the bolt apart and see if you broke the firing pin spring or possibly crud in the bolt etc. Its very easy to pull apart if you don't know how

Friend pulled it apart for a minute or so to check for crud and lubed it. I don't guess he saw that the spring would be broke. When I get home I would look at that. The X-Mark is what George recomended and I have been pleased with it. I'm done with Jewells and I have had a few go down on me and I want to be able to trust a rifle and the x-mark seems to be a very reliable trigger. Pull set at 2-2.5 lbs is still getting me first round hits at a grand with good groups anywhere. I am thinking this should be a small repair but my gunsmithing knowledge isn't the best, thats why I'm asking here. I have spare rem m 700's, would the springs from them work> Has anyone heard of this ever? Do springs break often? Gun is a year or two old

I wish I could as I am away from it now, but I will probably give him a shout if I get back home soon. These sound like things I should have though of but I am never scared to ask, only way to learn. Thanks guys
