Just wanted to share... This has got to be the best shooter I've ever owned!...

I'd been throwing 180gr. "Store bought" cheap ammo in it and keeping sub-moa groups but nothing to write home about. My brother gave me some of his 150gr. reloads for Christmas. They're full-length sized so I knew there wouldn't be a problem chambering them. He made them about 10 yrs ago for his M1A.
Yesterday I finally got to go to the range and send a few rounds down. After I zeroed my $200 scope and shot some impressive groups at 100yds I decided to move to 200yds... That's when it got interesting. The pictures are of my rifle and the 5-Shot group it shot at 200yds. I say "it" because I certainly can't shoot that well... on my BEST day! The "flyer" was the 3rd shot and was totally due to lack of concentration because shot #2 failed to extract. I had to get up and get my cleaning rod to push the "empty" out. 4 and 5 were right back in there!

I really can't afford most of the fine weapons I see here on The Hide and Uncle Sam doesn't pay for my rifles or ammo anymore so I do the best I can with what I have. That's why my rifle has a $200 scope and $60 Mounts/Rings and my target is a piece of "copier paper" with a dot made with a Sharpie. As well as my rounds being 10 year old reloads I got for Christmas!

My only regret is that I don't have the "load data" for the rounds and my brother doesn't remember!

Thanks for reading... Semper-Fi!

Re: My 40X. Shot one of my best groups. EVER!!!

How rude of me!...

The rifle is a 40X Repeater in 7.62 NATO
#4 Contour Stainless Barrel. 1:12" twist
McMillan "Modified 40X" Stock bedded by McMillan
Crappy Chinese SEALs Scope... Don't say it! I know!
20 MOA DNZ Mount/rings
Bench-rested on a rubber Wheel-chock with a towel over it.
Wind was blowing from directly behind me at around 20-25 MPH.

Thanks guys! I understand and appreciate the concern but my brother is best reloader I know and he never loads "hot". I was talking to him yesterday about the accuracy of those reloads and after thinking more about it, he thinks those were loaded for a PSS that he used to have... Not the M1A. He said he wouldn't have loaded bullets that light for the M1A. Anyway, he thinks he has the "load data" somewhere and will let me know. We knew the weight of the bullets because that information was on a little piece of paper inside the box. The rest of the info is somewhere in his notebook.

Nice shooting though. </div></div>
I honestly don't have any idea why I had that FTE. I closed the bolt on it a second time and it still didn't come out but as soon as my cleaning rod touched it, it popped out without any effort at all. I removed the bolt to see if my extractor was broken and it was fine and I had no other issues after that one. The brass is Lake City which I believe is thicker than "civilian" ammo so maybe the rim on that one was a little too thick for the extractor to pop over it. No tellin'...
