OK, so I'm down to my last short action with my name on it, and I decided to chamber this rifle in the ever popular 6.5 Creedmore. It makes all the sense in the world. A rifle that has 1000 yard potential, great off the shelf factory ammo at a very affordable price, low recoil, and as accurate as anything out there. What more could I ask for?

I was going to wait on the build, but I got a package in the mail today that lit a fire under my ass to start tomorrow. It was a scope that a freind of mine loaned me to try out. It is a Valdada-IOR 6-24. The clearest glass I have looked through since the last S&B I looked through. To say that it's aewsome is an understatement. The only thing that will keep me from shooting this rifle this weekend is that I ordered 200 rounds from Abels on line that showed availabe when I ordered, and I just got an email saying that they are awaiting shipment. So it will be next weekend I guess.

Below is the first pic. It is the parts I intend to use, and a list of those parts.

Manners stock with mini chasis
Stiller/Suarez Tactical Rifles action same as TAC 30
Bartlein MTU flutted 1 in 8 twist
APA little bastard break
IOR scope

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

I've seen your vids and can't wait for this write up. A quick question since this is semi-controversial.. Are you just going to bolt the action in on the mini chassis and go or are you going to skim bed it?

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

DAMN IT OZZIE! I can't concentrate on saving for a kid if you post stuff like this.

Thats really nice, I wish yu would "donate it" to my Police Department as a tax right off

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

I will skim bed it. Most guys won't, and they do just fine. I just try to cover any possible problems before they show them selves. If I didn't bed it, and it didn't shoot great, then that would be one thing to look at. However, if I did, then that would not even be a thought.

Sorry, this one is one I have been dreaming about for a long time. It will be the most valuable one to me personally, that is if it turns out OK. I will try to do this one with short clips instead of pics. Something different. It will be work in progress, and may take a while. I have other things to take care of around home at the same time, if you know what I mean

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

How do you like the feel of the A5.That's what i got for my build,Just curious Haven't herd anything about how the guys like them or dislike them.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

I love the way it feels. I ordered this one while I still had my shop to try out, and it sat for a while. I recently built a rifle for a local shooter, now freind of mine with this stock, and when I test fired the rifle, I was hooked. Needless to say, I decided to keep this one for myself.

Today I got all the machine work done, and I bedded the barreled action. I have been taking video as I go along, but I will post that oce I have it all together.

That's a Manners T5A, not a McMillan A5.

Yea, like it'll turn out any other way than perfect Ozz.

Dude, your building more rifles now than you did when you were in business. Slow down, smell the roses.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Correct. I just saw the 5 when he asked. Manners T5A with a mini chasis. Here is where I'm at now. Bedding is curing, and soon I will mark the caliber, Cerakote it, Mount a scope, and go shooting.

Excuse my ignorance, but if you are bedding it why would you clamp it by the barrel only without any support to the stock?

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

I can't help it William. It's like I was locked up, and now I'm free. Had all these actions on order before closing, and I didn't want to stick it to Stiller, so I stayed open long enough to make things right and see the deal through. Left me in temporary debt, but I'm out of that now, and working for my favorite customer, ME!!! Really LOL!! After this one I only have one more I really want now, then I will take a break. I still go shooting almost every weekend, sometimes during the week even. Plus, most importantly, my kids are in the shop, or playing in the drive way while I play in the garage.

Thank you for the compliments, I truly appreciate it, especially from you. Let it be known that I admire and respect you as a top notch rifle builder, and gentelman.

No problem. I use to rest the stock on bags while it cured a long time ago. Then I got to spend 3 full days at McMillan in Arizona learning from a gentelman who has been doing this for 20 plus years. He explained that what I was doing could induce stress on the bedding while it was curing. They hang theirs in a piece of wood with a hole. A rack with many holes. I only do one at a time, so the vice can hold it while I sit back and have a cigar, and glass of wine. Truthfully, either way worked great every time.

BTW, I got to go to McMillan and do this, plus get a grand tour of their place because another Hide member aranged it for me. To that guy, and McMillan, a very BIG THANK YOU.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Thank you STR for the information on the stock.I see a lot of them on rifles but no one really talks about how they like them.I think your stick is going to look very sweat.By the way MR.William Roscoe is the one building my 300 Rum.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Congrats on the fact that William is building your rifle. You will be happy, very happy. Post some pics when you get it, I'm sure we would all like to see it. Thanks again.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Ok, thought about a blacked out rifle, but already have two. So I tried something different. It's in the oven now. I'll post a picture when it's out, and you guys can tell me if it stays or goes. Never tried this before, so if you don't like , be easy, I have feelings.

No problem Ron, I've been called Roscoe Williams before.

Something tells me you've been called a lot worse than that.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Her is what I came up with for paint while enjoying a cigar in the shop. I looked at the camo netting I use to use for decorations in the showroom, and thought what if I painted a base coat, flash it in the oven at 150 degrees for 7 minutes, then take it out CAREFULLY, and wrap this netting around it. Thn take two different colors that work well with the black base coat, and lightly shoot over the netting??? Well here is what came from that Idea. It was like my first bedding job, nerve racking. Keep in mind, I have never tried anything but solid colors befor.

The project is now at a dead stand still. My fault. I lost the mag release in the shop, which I removed for painting purpose, and I can't find my 6.5 Creedmore stencil for marking the barrel. So depending on how fast Manners can supply my dumbass with one mag release, and the Lectro etch company can deliver the stencil I will order tomorrow, will determine when I will have this complete. Yes, I will pay for overnight shipping if they can get them to me by Wed this week.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Jst wanted to give a big thank you to two companys with super customer service. First Manners, who took great care of me when I called them on Monday and explained I had messed up by loosing a part on my mini chasis. They put one in the mail for me on the spot, and I got it with plenty of time to finish my build for this weekend.

The other company is Lectroetch in Ohio who as most of the gunsmiths here know, provide the etching systems that we use for marking barrels. I called them on short notice, and they were more than happy to get my stencils to me overnight. I had an email with proofs within 1/2 hour of my phone call. By mid week I had my stencils. Awesome service!!!!!

I hope to shoot this rifle tomorrow, and post pics, and a report. Thank you to all.

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Well, I got her already by Friday night, and shot her on Saturday morning. The rifle performed as good as I expected with me doing the shooting. I used Hornady factory 140 Amax loaded ammo. At $25.00 a box for 6.5 ammo, I think I will just continue to buy it, considering the results. This will surely be one of my favorite rifles to shoot. It's the newest, but it might need a barrel before the others. Below, as promised above, I have posted what videos I took as I went along. Sorry that I didn't capture every bit of it, but there were circumstances along the way that didn't permit it.

First the test targets. This one is of a five shot group at 100 yards
IMG_0487.jpg

This one is a twenty shot group without a lot of care
IMG_0489.jpg

This is me messing around with the turrets on the scope between shots. Notice the center above the diamond, it has 5 shots in it
IMG_0488.jpg

This last one is a 10 shot group fired as fast as I could, and still making it count, what a nice muzzle break!!!

Holy crap Papagallos, I just noticed what you have written at the bottom of your page!!!! I can't stop laughing!!! I'm a lineman for the power company in my area, and that is the main topic in the truck for 80% of the day most days. Thanks!!!

Re: My 6.5 Creedmore Build

Thank you guys for all the comments. I was just invited to tag along on a trip to Manatee gun range this Friday. If all goes well, I'll try to take it to 1K, and take a few pics.
