My eardrum burst last night. Now I'll miss hunting

So I've had an ear infection the past few days and this morning I wake up to find that my ear is draining.

Great. Not only is it draining, but there's blood in it.

Fuckin great. Went to the ER and sure enough, my eardrum had ruptured.

Tomorrow is the first day of Buck and pretty pissed that I might miss it.

I ruptured my left ear drum this summer, as part of a daring maneuver out of a tube. I landed ear first on the water, and I heared it go POP, it hurt like a SOB for a while, but it drained out (kinda gross) a clear sticky fluid, thats when I was sure it had popped. I kept tubing for the rest of the day(bad Idea) and on the way home I stopped to see a doctor. he said yep its broke, prescribed me an anitbiotic and charged me a hundred or so bucks. He said it would heal over after a couple weeks, and sure enough, it did. I'll never be sure, but I dont feel like I hear any worse from that ear now than before, but I was pretty deaf to begin with.

I busted a ear drum wakeboarding once, it will heal fine, focus on the infection (anti-biotics)!

My son when he was 5 he was sitting on the couch waiting to go to family for Christmas when he all of sudden cried out. I walked over to him and there was a bloody green ooze coming from his left ear. His ear drum had ruptured from an ear infection that neither my wife or I had realized he had. We took him to the ER at Ft. Meade and the Dr. confirmed the infection had built up behind the ear drum and it had finally ruptured.

He's 21 now and has never suffered any hearing loss, so odds are unless something more than the eardrum was damaged you should recover.

It is really no big deal. Get some antibiotics and go hunting. I had a bad ear infection a couple of years ago and both drums ended up bursting. They heal pretty quick and no hearing loss for me. Don't let this slow you down.

Yes you can still dive but its a crap shoot, if the perf. tears or burst again it will lead to bad things including deafness and dizziness.

Yeah it doesn't feel that bad at all, then again I did take like 4 Vicadin (or however you spell it) and the antibiotic.

I should be ok to hunt tomorrow, but I'm going to bring some cotton to put in my ear if I have to keep the cold air out.

Hope I get a nice one tomorrow. I haven't shot a deer since I was 15 back in 1995 when I shot a 9 pointer who was about 190lbs field dressed.
