My Handy rifle (better pictures to come).

.223 Remington 700 PSS with barrel cut down from 26" to 16.5" and put into a Remington 700 LTR stock. Barrel turned down to install a SAKO TRG front sight with room left over to thread for a suppressor. Action drilled for installation of Redfield "International" rear sight and side mounting base. Iron sights work in conjunction with Nightforce 20 MOA rail. Rear sight removes with thumb screw for using Nightforce 2.5-10x24 scope with Leupold QRW rings. Sub-MOA at 100 yards and very easy to pack.

Does it have the 1 in 12 twist? Have you ran into any issues engaging targets at longer distances with the loss of velocity with the .223? I have an SPS-V I'd love to do this too!

I have not personally measured the barrel twist but I believe it is a 1 in 9" twist. Why? Because I shoot 80 grain bullets that group sub-MOA (at 100 yards). My muzzle velocity is 2600 fps. How I do this is by using a Cartridge Over All Length (C.O.A.L.) of 2.55".

My next upgrade is to have J.D. Thomas of High Speed Shooting Systems ( http://www.highspeedshootingsystems.com ) install Defiance Machine ( http://defiancemachine.com/ ) Detachable Bottom Metal tiggerguard ( http://defiancemachine.com/dbm/ ).

I have the AICS .223 magazines which allow a max COAL of 2.55". This dramatically increases the powder capacity of the .223 when using the larger bullets. In fact, it really turns the .223 into a much more powerful cartridge. Had I not chopped the barrel to 16.5" and left it at +20", I would be seeing several hundred FPS higher muzzle velocity according to QuickLoad.

Still, it's lots of fun being able to shoot both irons and a scope on the same rifle with solid repeatability.
