I just finished this rifle the other day and wanted to share a few pics of it with you guys. It was fun to build and its a hoot to shoot. I did all my own assembly, headspacing, boltwork, stockwork, metal refinishing etc. I have shot it at 500 yds with some great groups using handloads. Can share those pics too if youd like to see them. I just wish I had bought 2 or 3 of the machine gun barrels back when they were cheap..................

Ric44,

This is absolutely outstanding custom MN, very classy looking and extremely well balanced modification.

Is this barrel completely free floating or it is supported in a stock? What kind of work did you do on the trigger?

Thank you for sharing.

Boris

Yes the barrel is free floated from the chamber out. The receiver sets on aluminum pillars, The trigger is stock but I did add a washer and tweak the spring along with a polish job. Its around 3.5 lbs now.

Re: My HB Mosin

Here are a couple of groups that were shot by me and a bud a few days ago over at his place. Its nice to have a 500yd range just down the road from your house. These were the first reloads I had ever shot in it since I built it and it was a Varget load he had developed for his hb mosin that he suggested I try in mine. The bullet is a .311 Sierra 175gr Matchking. The groups were shot back to back with no cooling time in an already fairly warm barrel.Mine went 1 5/8 in his went 3 in .Winds were light and variable. The camera was zoomed for the first pic. The white plate is 6 ft. in diameter.

Very professional job. One of the best custom MNs I've seen.

Re: My HB Mosin

Tallshot
I had Dirtyjim(over at surplusrifles) turn the barrel down A LOT......it started life as one of the surplus uk-59 machine gun barrels, then he made a sleeve the same diameter as the barrel that gave it a seamless look when I torqued the barrel down and headspaced it. I was luckier than some who built these, the extractor cut lined up just right when I tightened the barrel up on the receiver. These barrels right now are over 3 bills if you can find them. Certainly much more than they would be worth to me with the amount of work involved in these.
