I was lucky enough for my father inlaw to give me his M1A. It was in pretty good shape but being a nut I wanted it flawless. I redid all the metal in Cerakote and refinished the wood. Im very please in how well it came out.
I ran a few rounds though it to confirm all was working good. At 100 yards I shot 1-1.5 in groups. Im going out sunday to try it on some steel. I hope to get good video.
I used Chem Pak from Brownells. I used the hand rubbed oil and the spray. I did 4 coats of oil and wet sanded with 600 and rubbed the oil in to close the pores. I used their spray coating 2 coats.
I used zip strip and finish sanded with 400 wet. I did 4 coats of Chem Pak hand rubbed finish. Once that was dry I sanded 600 wet and used the Chem Pak spray.
