I am sure this has been shown before, but I wanted to post a magazine I cut down (bored one weekend) for my MWS. It now holds 11 rounds and makes low bench shooting a little easier.

To make the floor plate stay in place, I did JBWeld it together, as with the thin magazine web, using screws or pins to hold the floor plate on was not too reliable IMO. So it is cannot be disassembled...just one of the downsides.

I got a sale flier from Midway yesterday. Have DPMS 10-round steel magazines for $25. Not any nicer than yours but easier for the mechanically challenged.

77... that's a great idea. I am a fan of the Magpul PMags, but sometimes... that 20 rounder gets a bit long when lying down... I may just have to give this a whip.

Thanks for sparking my creative side...

I used my DeWalt sliding mitter saw, make sure when you make the cut, to cut down the middle of the horizontal ribs and also the side I show in the photo must be face down. The magazine catch tang on the other side will not allow the magazine to lay flat. Also cut on top of a piece of 1 x 4 wood.

When you JBWeld you will have to clamp the mag closed while the JB is drying.

Pins in the right locations hold just fine and by that I mean in excess of 100lbs of vertical force being applied to the baseplate. I've got alot of them in the field and they're tough enough that some SWAT teams, including my local one, use them. Rumor has it some found their way to Khandahar province with some of our fighting men and women but I never verified that.

MidPX,

Thanks, I tried screws and I may have installed too close to the bottom of the base. I have some 410 SS .050" wire and have access to some Inconel .035 too, I may try these one day....you can see in my photo I did drill two holes on the base on the angled area, pulled the screws out and filled with JBWeld. I have two .223 Magpuls that I modified 3 years ago and they are still going strong, used every weekend

Your mods look great, I really admire good work like this...my problem is my hands cannot stay idle.

Good to know that your mags found their way to the real testing ground.
