Guys

Just got this barrel and wanted to post a few pics before I take it to the range this weekend.

20” Stainless Steel .308 LMT MWS Barrel with 11.25 twist. I’m hoping this barrel really shoots. My 16" chrome lined barrel is 1 MOA at best which in all honesty I don’t believe is that bad for a battle rifle. I don’t seem to have some of the issue that others appear to be having so I’m pretty positive about the whole system.

The reason I went the LMT route was not only for price but the optional barrels and calibers. I believe LMT makes some of the finest ARs on the planet.

As you can see they changes to a longer gas tube on the longer barrel which I’m sure will be a plus. Both barrels are running near 0.860 behind the gas block and near 0.800 in front. The 20" with the factory A2 weights 4.1oz. and my 16" with a Battle Comp is weighing 3.9oz.

My only bitch is that they don’t take these barrels down to 0.775 so those of us that wish to run the Surefire muzzle break/adaptors could without modification. I know they are set up to run the K cans for the contract.

Range report to follow:

Looking forward to the Field Report, congratulations.

I've found several loads that are sub moa with the Chrome lined MWS. I don't know if I got lucky or have just tried more loads. Anyway the LMT is in fact a great rifle.

I had seen a post here with this link http://www.lmtstore.com/cqb-mrp-barrel.html?p=2 that showed they were in stock. Called LMT to confirm and ordered last Thursday. They said 10-15 days till it would ship. What I found out was that all items are tested or shot before they leave LMT so that is why the estimated ship dates. This was received last night so it appears it was released either Monday or Tuesday.

I got this one through a local LMT dealer that I know. You could also call them and buy it direct if you dont have a dealer that you wish to deal with locally.

Did a little better than the $700 but there really isnt that much room or margin in them for the dealer so dont plan on stealing one.

The gas block is exposed and just sits in front of the quad rail. Looks rather nice. I will post up some addtional pics after the range session.

I'm planning on getting either the 18" or 20" (which ever they have in stock@ the time) and sending it to ADCO to have it chopped to 16", re-crowned, recontured (to accept the surefire collar), and dempled both fore and aft of the gas block. I just like the idea of a rifle length gas system for even more reliability.

ETA: Looking@ your pictures I don't think the S/F colar would have enough room if I took 4" off the barrel... damn

Larry,

There are two different kinds of SureFire suppressors. The K and the SS. The K does not require the barrel to turned back 2.75 inches like the SS does. Here is a pic of my MB762-211C brake for our 762K can.

So have I. I think the Indians bad eyes are the main issue here. I did manage to squeak out a 1.1" @ 200yds with LC/cci-br/42.3 xbr/155 palma smk/2.803 oal

Nice! I just loaded so test loads using XBR and VV N140 with Sierria 155 Palma and Hornady 155 A Max. I'll post the results.

I wonder if the gas block can be pulled off and replaced with a larue flat one so that an ops inc adapter can be attached right in front of it. I know you can with this one too, but it doesn't fit the look.
