Guys I had this in the safe for about 2 months now I had to sell my scope to buy the wife a new house. I have been so pre consumed with Kevin Crams 300 win mag I have neglected Kirby Allen’s hard work. Sorry Kirby.

Well I am holding on to some guns for a friend and he asked my to work up some loads for his 308. So I said nice scope and borrowed if for a while he doesn’t need it.

Shot the rifle yesterday for the first time WOW no recoil! The Muzzle brake is a work of art. I felt like a kid shooting a BB gun .

Specs

Rem 700 SA trued, bolt fluted, Sako extractor installed

Brux #7 Light target 1-8 twist with APS 3 port painkiller brake

HS Precision stock skim bedded

Factory trigger tuned by Kirby

Nightforce 20MOA base

I mounted up my buddies IOR scope grabbed the re loads and headed to the range. Kirby shot a one hole 756 yard group in testing prior to the rifles return to me( I lost the load info). I just shot a ladder yesterday and went a little too far popped a primer at 47g of H4350 scared the shit out of me. I went to fast had no pressure signs at 46g lesson learned.

Hope you guys like her. In hind sight I would have went with a different profile much too heavy for anything but prone work. But oh well just got to shoot her out I guess.

Re: my new 260 rem just for digs

Lookin' good man.

I'm about to take my new .260 out again for the third time tomorrow. First time I was battling loose ring screws, and was short on time. Second time I managed about .6" @ 100 with both Corbon 142SMK and 123Scenar, not so good with my first batch of handloads, which hovered around 3/4".

I'm going back to the drawing board and playing more with seating depth this time, hopefully I'll have a bit more luck.

Mine is a trued Remmy SA with Broughton 5C in a Manners T4 with APA LB brake. I know what you mean about the recoil, mine feels about like a .22-250.

Eager to see how yours shoots in the future, keep us posted.

In a brief nutshell, the old 6.5-08 wildcat has been around for years. Basically back in around 1997 or so Remington made it a factory cartridge and called it the .260 Remington.

Jon; Looks great, hope to bump into you at RBC give it a try. Keep an eye out for the Odessa F-Class matches on the first Saturday of every month. Shoot me a PM if you want to plan something at Rochester Brooks or any other venue. Springwater Rod & Gun Club is now running one F-Class match a month too.

So what's the outcome of the ladder?

Guessing the barrel length at 24"-26" or so. With 140-ish projos, H4350 is maxed at 44.5gr by Hodgdon.

I'm finding accuracy at just under 44gr with 140A-Max and 142SMK's in a 28" Savage Varmint Contour bore.

While I'd not have thought of a brake, to each their own...
