Hi all, this is my first post here on Sniper's Hide.
I built an M-14 EBR using a 7.62mm Firearms receiver and all USGI Springfield Armory parts except for a Fulton Gen II bolt.
I have Sage's cantilever scope mount but for initial testing I was using an inexpensive Bushnell hunting scope. I didn't want to go all the way with a Nightforce until I knew if the gun could perform or not.
At a 100 yards I was able to cover my best 3 shot group completely with a dime. Do you think I have a good enough gun to upgrade the optics and try some real distance shooting?
I might have gotten even tighter but I haven't shot since last fall and this test shooting wasn't under ideal conditions.

When I ordered my parts set the supplier had a limited number of Saco-Lowell GI barrels and I was supposed to get one but somehow the order got misread and I was sent a Springfield Armory GI chrome lined barrel instead. By the time the mistake was realized he was out of the Saco-Lowell's. However I don't think I'm regretting it as much now.
I was thinking for the next upgrade a Nightforce ATACR.

always the fellers making an m14/m1a into something it's not. Should have said that group was shot at 500 yards, be more operator as fuck'ish.

take no offense, i'm just saying personnaly i wouldnt dump a bunch of money into an M1A, damn fine rifles yes, long range precision rifles they are not

You do know don't you that the most confirmed kills by a sniper in Viet Nam was with the M-14 in the M-21 variant? The EBR's are the most accurate versions to date. In the modern combat role the M-14 EBR's capability of rapidly engaging multiple targets is a plus. The semi can indeed match a bolt gun as the Barretts have proven.

What Barrett shoot as well as a bolt rifle?

I am always impressed with what it takes to keep a m1a shooting well.
