I pick it up in the morning and go to the range with the armor. It has the correct pre 64 bottom metal and the lugged scope mount. Bet a simrad will work on this! But which one is correct? 203, 253??? Who knows??

Nice looking rifle! Here's mine...well, it was the USMC's, but they let me play with it for a few years. Some day I'd like to have one again.

Very cool. While attached to 2MarDiv MTU & Pistol Team, we went out to the rifle range a good bit as you can imagine. To give basic Marksmanship classes to remedial shooters and and to shoot an awful lot of pistol. Anyway the scout sniper school was located there and every once in awhile there might be a rifle laying out on the table and that's the closest I got to an M40A1. I actually had an opportunity to go through scout sniper school just because I was an MTU instructor I guess. Plus I was in 0311 and I could shoot. My best qualification was 243/250. But to be honest that just seemed like entirely too much work for someone that was getting out in about a year. Truthfully I wimped out, LOL. BUT I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR SCOUT SNIPERS. Seems like everybody I run into on the outside tells me they were a sniper in the service and I just love to ask them what rifle did they use. You'd be surprised how many will say an M16 one dude even said he was a specialized sniper he used an M16 in the Starlight scope hahaha! With all these self-professed snipers you got to wonder where all the Infantry was! Posers that say they were snipers probably weren't even infantry they're probably office pogues most of them. I am proud to have been an Infantry Rifleman.

Very nice! Thanks for posting the pictures.

I thought that scope number sounded familiar, I bid on it too. I dropped out earlier, but you got that for a great price.

I liked the desert camo paint job it had.

Did you just remove the paint or did you cerecoat the scope too? It does match the rest of the rifle better as black.

There are a few variations made at different times but here are two pics to show what your looking for. There were some reproductions floating around and badger still makes some that look a bit different but should be available on their website.
