Just picked this up at Cabela's this evening. It's a stock Savage 300Win with accutrigger. It was used but I don't think much it still had the accutrigger sticker on it. Going to get a Manners T4 stock for sure but not sure on the glass yet.

Going to get a second barrel in 308 as well....can't wait

Welcome to the brotherhood of the barrel nut. I'm sure you will be pleasantly supprised when you pull the trigger on it. One piece of advise I have is change from the accutrigger to the rifle basix sav-1 or the SSS. Anyone who every has any reliability issues always has issues with the accutrigger.

Good luck,
Merritt

I had a problem with my Accu-Trigger on my Savage 10 BAS. It would lock up after I chambered a new round and I would have to unlock the bolt and drop it back down to let it go free.. I asked around and was told to tighten up the trigger pull and carefully clean any packing grease and anything else that may of been on the springs. I followed this and my Savage shoots like a champ no further issues.

Lol, I think somebody loved the idea of owning a 300 win mag, then shot the thing. I don't know how much that weighs, but can't be too much. That thing, off a bench, with just bags, yeee hawww! Who knows what really happened though, and their loss is your gain. Congrats and enjoy!

Re: My next project rifle

Yup, that will wake you up in the mornin'!

The complaints I have seen with the accutrigger have been with folks trying to pull the trigger before the 'accu part' is depressed. I guess if you really tried you can botch just about anything.
This "problem" would be impossible to duplicate with a judicious 90 degree trigger pull.

Also, I would shoot that rifle before buying a new barrel. You might be surprised. A new barrel may not get you much improvement for the money it will cost.
David Tubbs Final Finish might be appropriate on the factory barrel and usually improves accuracy and clean up and just might get you where you want to be for a lot less money, especially on a Savage as they can just flat out shoot. Don't get it near a premium barrel though.

Re: My next project rifle

I don't know if I'm trying to make up for anything but I like to have some kick to my rifles. I get bored quickly.

As for the barrel. I want to have a 300win/308win switch barrel set up. I had a M700 action and everything just about ready to go out to the smith and after doing the math it wasn't cost effective. So I sold the M700 and bought a Savage.
