I bought this Mark II in October. It came with a walnut thumbhole stock. I broke down and bought the Boyds stock with a blemish for $60. I found one spot that could possibly be the blemish. If its not, I think the stock is perfect.

Before the the stock change, I had a chance to shoot out to 25 yards. It performed quite well. I 3 different types ammo.

Winchester High Velocity (grey box): Shot well but had trouble ejecting. The ejector would slip off the rim. At first I thought my rifle was messed up but I went to the next ammo.

Winchester Wildcat: This stuff had me a bit stunned. I bought it for my GSG-5 but had trouble with failure to eject so I stashed it away for a rainy day and I'm glad I did. I was able to shoot one ragged hole with it. I'm eager to see how it does out to 50+.

CCI Green Tag: This shot just as good as the Wildcat and maybe even better.Like I said, I was only able to shoot to 25 yards. I think it will perform very well out 50+. As soon as it warms up I will be hitting up the range to find out.

Re: My Savage Mark II

Yep, Savage has a TON of fans around the world and for a damn good reason. Super accurate, excellent trigger for a mass-produced rifle, outstanding customer service (something that some of the European companies don't give a damn about), great after-market support, and PLENTY of models to satisfy any shooter.

Test German Wolf, both Target and Extra. Also try RWS loads and several Eley. The rifle will decide for you...
