It was just the break-in but I really enjoyed myself. I'm ready to get some more loaded up and give her a go. I really like the platform.
I went through a few rifles before settling on this one, even a 5R. It would shoot the lights out but I need to be able to be my own armorer. I think the Remington rifles are more aesthetically appealing but in this case, "pretty is as pretty does".
I've got a .223 barrel, action wrench, barrel nut wrench, a set of gauges (.223 and .308), and a precision ground recoil lug form Jim at NSS. The bolt parts and single shot tray from SSS should be in this week. This is going to be so much fun. I'm going to load for it with the factory recoil lug in place, then put the new one in. I'm curious to see the difference.
There's a couple of things I'd like to do.
First is there a way to add weight to the factory laminate stock? It's a little light in the rear.
I've emailed Karstan about his adjustable cheek rests, it needs about 1" or so. Or I may get another Blackhawk.
Also, I'm going to paint this rifle. There are some pretty cool stencils here> http://catalog.bulldogarms.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=6 I'll need to do this one because the .308 is stainless but the .223 barrel is off of a Model 10 Matte rifle.
I'm also planning on bedding this rifle as well. Just because I've never bedded a rifle before. Since I'll be needing to change out barrels (I'm planning on .260 and 300 Whisper as well), how should I approach the bedding process?
Oh, the scope is a Vortex Viper 6.5-44 Mildot, TSR rings and a 20 minute EGW base.
