Hunting & Fishing My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

everything from the west to the south will be dead by that time, consider your trophy mule, whitetail, and elk GONE... they (wolves) need to be killed well before they can reach the hog line.

AMEN!

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Long before wolves go after hogs, they'll take your live stock, (food prices will go sky high), then they'll move to town and start on your pets, then your kids.

Don't thank that will happen, Google "Coyotes killing pets, dogs-cats".

Wolves are a hell of a lot worse then coyotes. I set in my front room and watch coyotes call in the neighbors dog, (nailed to coyote before it got to the dog).

Wolves haven't moved into the Black Hills yet, but they will, when they reach the Big Horns then I'm gonna take action my self.

You sure about that?
They killed one last year 5 miles from my house and I live in the Huron area. Cats have been tracked and spotted with in 10 miles from Huron as well.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Maybe I was "wishful hopping"

I'm gonna study that a bit. There was a report of one near Sundance but feds said it was a big coyotes. Maybe so, Coyotes are free game, even big ones.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

The wolf that was kill here last year was taken down by a group of locals that thought it was just a big coyote.....

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

I'm fairly ignorant of the wolf problem. But are wolves still protected out there? Seems a pretty simple solution to "thin the herd" so to speak if there not.

Especially since they tend to travel/hunt in packs.

Or is it more like hogs have gotten....

With the ranchers and farms crying
"They're destroying our property, we need help"

Then wanting to charge big big bucks to come shoot em?

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Thinning the herd would work if that was the concern.

I believe, and it would be hard to convince me otherwise, the introduction of wolves was not about bringing back an endangered spices (these wolves never lived here).

It's about eliminating hunting altogether. Idiots can't get laws passed to eliminate hunting, but if there is no game to hunt, then they accomplished the same thing. Ending hunting as we know it.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

I know they're thriving in Northern Wisconsin...perhaps even too much.

SDGFP says their are no wolves in the Hills, i've heard otherwise, the thing is, one wolf aint gonna do the damage, there will always be a loner passin through, but when they pack up, its gonna hit the fan...

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Of curse the Fish and Wildlife services say they are not where they are supposed to be. Remember these agencies all worked together to bring them into the Park.
They did this with no real plan for management and now things are spiraling out of control. They don't want to look worse than they already do. Until someone has concrete evidence ( dead one ) they will deny it.
When I lived in NW Wyo they refused to admit the wolves left the park in 2005. Then a guy took video of them chasing Elk and Cattle on Heart Mountain ( Just North of Cody ) he took that video to the paper and local news. Then the Feds couldn't deny any longer.

Kraig you have 'em ... hell they are already in Nebraska.

I'm waiting for the greenies in Co to get hammered by them. Then I'm waiting for the ultra wealthy to watch the Elk on the refuge just North of Jackson to get slaughtered by them. Once those rich tree hugging folks watch a few Elk get played with and killed for fun they might start to put pressure on the right people with their money.

How many of you are actually doing something about this? Maybe donating some funds to those who are researching and fighting this wolf problem. IF you are sportsman it WILL affect you in one way or another. I can see it already. All these "hunters" bitching in 5 years that there are no Elk or Deer to hunt in the west anymore. Yet all they did was watch the videos, documentaries and movies and say " wow that's horrible". Then sit on their hands. We need squeaky wheels.

People are loosing generational livelihoods. Less meat and wool are being brought to the consumer because of this.

This is bad people, really bad.

Last I heard MT hunters have killed 80 wolves. Even so the state of MT is contemplating shutting down what used to be excellent Elk hunting areas. They are contemplating shutting down the late seasons and some cow seasons.

The future looks dim fellow sportsmen.

MY gawd! What are we to do? What if the tens of thousands of marauding packs of wolves link up with the hordes of zombies plaguing our nation? We are all doomed!

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Great 5th post.

You're obviously one of the 95%. You know the ones who could give a shit what some hard working honest Americans have to live with because of some bullshit do-gooders wanted to make themselves feel good.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Some humor.... Years ago, I was at an informational meeting on wolf reintroduction. After the biologist had admitted that wolves would impact the ungulate population, which could result in reduced hunting opportunities for sportsmen, he stated: "One good thing though, they'll eat all the coyotes."
So I asked him this: "If I can't hunt deer, and I can't hunt elk, and there are no coyotes left, it sounds to me like the only thing left to hunt will be the wolves. Right?"
He didn't like that. Said they were protected, blah blah blah....We've got 'em locally, but apparently one pack north of here has mysteriously disappeared. Biologists are baffled. Locals are not.

Same here. It's quite the phenomenon.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Wolves are the last of my worries, but they still pose a near future threat. Lately we have had alot of coyote attacks on humans here in colorado. And also quite a few(more than usual)encounters between humans and mountain lions.

As far as the wolves are concerned...we have the tools needed to take care of the problem and we already know the solution.....

I'm sure if it gets that bad, a management plan will be put into action.

Nope.
I am one of the less than 5% out here in AFG hunting terrorists and insurgents. I am one of the less than 5% fighting those extremists who would take over a commercial plane and crash it into a building or strap a bomb to himself and walk into a church, school or your place of business. I am the less than 5% who can read hysterical claims that wolves are going to wipe out every elk, deer, livestock, in America driving up food prices and know that hysteria is miss-placed. Rather than go on ranting about the vast dangers of wolves to all the game and livestock in America, why dont you take that energy and put it toward ensuring our second amendment rights? Fighting gun-control liberals? Fight against the socialist in DC and the corporations that support them? You want to claim you are a hard working honest American? Fight the real fight. I can only do so much from out here. I need Americans to stand up and fight the socialist programs being forced down our throats. I need Americans to fight for their right to dignity and privacy. I need Americans to get pissed and take action. Not just sit there, blather on about the dangers of wolves while truly evil forces are out there conspiring to undermine the Constitution and take our freedom.

Quite frankly........you sure are cryin a whole lot for bein' a Jarhead. Most of us already take action in protecting our second amendment rights. Infact alot of us are prior military, been to combat and chose to fight "the extremists" as you put it. And those of us that have done the job before you sonny-boy, have earned the right to "blather on about wolves" if we want to. This isn't a personal attack, I just followed your orders and figured I am an American and so I got pissed at your stupidity and now I'm standing up to the true evil of Krowbar that is conspiring to undermine the constitution and take away our "wolf blathering" freedom.

About face, forward march and go thump your chest in the mirror there big stud.

Have a little more respect for the members here.......

Really... I thought marines we always prepared. Seems you've come to the table unprepared. From the information and research I've gather about these wolves. I'm doing exactly as you asked. The wolves are about more than just helping a new fuzzy puppy find a better life.
While I truly appreciate your service. I don't appreciate your ignorance. I do as much as I can to help all those issues you mentioned above. However, I live darn near right in the middle of where these hysterical, unfounded, dreamed up, over exaggerated claims have ruined lives, ranches, hopes and dreams.
Excuse me if I would like to see my children ( hell all sportsman's children ) enjoy what we had the opportunity to experience and enjoy. Not to mention try to save a few hard working Americans lively hoods.

You may be the 1% in regard to your life style or employment preference but you are also unfortunately leaning towards the 5% when it come to an issue back here.

DTOM,

thanks!

+1 cocadori...
sounds like this guy has no clue what many of the farmer, ranchers, outfitters, go through when the elk and deer herds are dwindling due to this predator...

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

4 have been spotted where I have hunted elk for 10 years.
The herd has suddenly started acting very different than in years past. The numbers of bears in the area has also gone up.
One theory is that since wolves are such wasteful killers, that the bears are merely going after the easy pickings.

Since we have several wolf sanctuaries in the area, I have been highly suspicious. The liberal diatribe that spews from their websites
makes one think that evil man is driving them to extinction. Only the good-hearted efforts of the sanctuary keep them around for man to worship.

As long as the DOW turns a blind eye to the problem for another couple of years, the population will explode.

cocadori, Thanks for keeping this issue on the front burner.

Re: My thought after watching CRYING WOLF

Where do you hunt Hoof? I have heard that the wolves have been spotted in the Medicine Bow area up north west of Walden. But I haven't heard they showed up anywhere else.
