Here we go again... Everyone yelling for a taser. Do we even know if the officer has a taser? Had it already been tried? We only know what's shown in this clip. Where is the rest of the story? How/why did he get naked? The title suggests a homicide suspect. The officer had his rifle out. Theres bound to be much more than what's shown here.
It is easy to Monday morning QB the cop with the rifle, but...

-it is hard to go hands-on with a suspect with the rifle slung on you
-you can’t just drop the rifle
-you have to make damn sure the perp can’t take the rifle from you.
We always train our cops to try to have a non-rifle cop for backup for the hands-on stuff once the perp is contained. Maybe he did not have that option available so he’s trying to do the best he can.

No, you're wrong and we're right. We have viewed thousands of police videos and are considered experts in the field of internet critique.
I am going to back @kindabitey up on this. I might have it on my home PC and will look later. It was a video that appeared to be from helicopter. Naked guy was running down the street towards a couple of LEO and their vehicles. One had a dog and when naked man got about 5 ft away the dog went over and basically sniffed him.
Obviously we don't know the commands given to the dog, but it sure didn't look like dog was interested in apprehending suspect.

He's sort of well known in his home town. Danville is still climbing out of the downturn from NAFTA and the tobacco market. For the longest time, they, as well as Pittsylvania and Henry counties had upwards of 20% unemployment rates. Anyone doing well that grew up there gets a lot of attention. The meth and prescription pain killers are the main issues now.
I personally couldn't give a single fuck what the officers on the scenes performance was or what the dog was doing.
