I don't think so ? . No connection on the Link to the murder in Mexico of NetFlix location scout .
just saying, Season 4 is going into the transfer of dethroned power from Colombian Cartels to the faces & names of Mexico . I don't think the Mex. Cartels to happy at all for ANY publicity pointed there way, even if it 20+ years ago . Mexico Cartels are animals in comparison to Colombian

I don't think you could necessarily say that, it's difficult to compare due to the difference in time/place and because for Colombia it was the 1st time such a threat/entity had presented itself. The level of publicity the Mx cartels brought to their brutality was surely unprecedented. But the Colombians brought a nation to its knees. And then coopted that nation when the Cartel model shifted to the paramilitary model! Los Zetas at their height weren't shit compared to the AUC. Frankly, the level of numbers + firepower that AUC and FARC had, absolutely put anything Mexico has seen to shame. I allow for the fact that these 2 groups considered themselves political actors within a broader civil war environment; that don't change the fact that much of their funding came thru narcotraffic and many of their leaders/warlords also happened to be druglords. There are several known instances in which the Colombian military (or atleast units acting on their own accord) is alleged to have cooperated jointly with the AUC paras.
Don't get me wrong, Juarez and Tijuana were no less than war zones at certain points in time. Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, etc were pretty much Zetas-ran slaughterhouses in certain towns during the height of the CDG-Zetas falling out. Durango appears to be a giant clandestine grave. Same could be said for Veracruz and Guerrero seemingly gets worse by the day.
However, like I said, all of the various Mx groups combined couldn't constitute the power and capability represented by the likes of the AUC. And aside from certain occasions in which the Z's, CJNG, and CDS acting out, I also don't think you could say a Mexican group has ever outright tried to take on the state like Pablo did.
Overall, as said - different times and places. Very hard to make direct comparisons.

Watched it and they did a pretty good/entertaining job of it on the Mexico side of the story . Am sure it has artistic interpretation spun-off some of the true facts . but they took the southern boarder from it's growth from weed to coke . Was also a good reminder of just how corrupt Mexico was and still is .
