I have a few hundred pieces of once fired .300Winmag, and about fifty pieces of new brass.

I am using a Sinclair neck turner, and the turner came with a paired neck sizer. Which works quite nicely on the neck turner.

Issue being, the once fired brass is just a tad larger than the diameter of the neck mandrel, and is noticeable on the turner as there is a little play on the turner.

How do you guys accomplish consistent neck turning on once fired brass? I have thought about paying the local gunsmith to mill out a mandril to match the diameter of my once fired brass to ensure a tighter fit and tighter tolerances.

Have you resized the once fired brass yet and shrunk the necks back to loading size? The fired brass has enlarged during the firing process and neck tension is almost non-existent. Resizing brings this back down.

There are turning mandrels and expander mandrels, you need to expand the neck and then turn. Expanding the neck moves the irregularities to the outside of the neck for turning. You are going to have to size the case and decrease the neck diameter and then expand. The expander mandrels are .001 larger than the turning mandrels for the snug fit while turning.
