New to the neck turning game. I am using a sinclair neck turning tool and concentricity was about.002 on brand new lapua brass. I have been told it is best to neck turn brand new brass but when I do runout jumps up to about .005. I have been told i that is fine to check them after i fire them. Is this correct?

Re: Neck turning

Yes dont worry about it until after you fire them. The sinclair tool is a good one too. Generally I have to make two passes with it. I do one pass, back it off then run it through one more time. I am using their gen 2 expander as well.

Re: Neck turning

I am using the gen 2 expander as well to neck 6.5 284 to 7mm and removed the the ball expander from my FL bushing die. So I run it through the expander then turn the neck and then run it through the the bushing die.
