Rifle Scopes Need 20moa base for Sako TRG

Re: Need 20moa base for Sako TRG

Most people on the 'Hide will recommend a NEAR. I can't speak about NEAR from personal experience, but 'everyone' can't be wrong!

I have Farrell and it is excellent. Ordered it before I heard of NEAR. It's a great unit and I would buy it again. www.kenfarrell.com

I don't think you can go wrong with either mount.

If you aren't using the USO T-Pal (which has a very wide center block), the Spuhr mount, developed by a guy here on the forum looks to be just one of the most amazing pieces of kit ever. But I don't know if it's a 20 MOA down... I assume that it is. But I would order one in a micro-second if he did one wide enough to take a USO T-Pal. It's just a superb piece of engineering.

You will definitely want a down base to get beyond about 500 with your TRG. And it will shoot way beyond that.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: Need 20moa base for Sako TRG

Hi

Regardless if you choose Near, Sako or our mount my recomentation is to use a direct mount instead of a picatinny mount.
The TRG action have a superb milled dovetail and unless you have some other interesteing optical devices that should go on there the best solution is a direct mount as that saves you from potential problems with rails that comes loose.

We offer 7mils/24moa for 30mm and 34, and also 13mils/44,4 moa for 34mm. I belive the Sako TRG orignal mount is 30 moa, and I dont know what Near is offering.

I don't understand the Spuhr products in rings. You say above, that you offer 24 moa rings for the Sako milled base? That is what you say in your post but I don't see an explanation of that on your website. Nor do I see any information on how to buy your product. Also, I would need height information on your rings so I know if my Nightforce 5.5x22-56 will clear the barrel. Also where to buy.

Spuhr products look interesting. Right now I am trying to mount a Nighforce 5.5x22-56 scope on my Sako TRG 22. I have a 0 moa steel base that came with it (although it is not a Sako base). And it will work, but I really prefer 20 moa base even though the Nightforce does have enough moa to work.

Eventually I will be putting a better scope on when my OTHER rifle comes back from the gunsmith (long story).

Anyway, a 20 moa picatinny base is what I am seeking. I have them on my other rifles and none of them have come loose. I used locktite.

EGW also makes munts for the TRG. They may be worth a look see. I have one of their bases on my bolt gun and it has worked fine. Since you're starting from sratch the spuhr is work a look. Rigns and base in one unit and they seen built like a brick shithouse.
