Hey Y'all...

I'm looking at picking up a suppressor for my .22LR. I hear that some are serviceable? Is this a big deal in making a purchase?

Who makes serviceable cans?

Thanks!

Jake

They can fill up with gunk fairly quickly if you shoot a lot, so being able to clean them is nice.

My SWR Spectre is a very nice suppressor that can be used on .22lr on up to 5.7. It works great on handguns but only good on rifles.

My Brother is addicted to 22lr suppressors, he has 6, with out a doubt the Silencerco is our favorite, followed by the Spector, Warlock, Outback, and a couple more.

Whatever you decide on for a .22 can MAKE SURE it comes apart for cleaning!!

I used to own a sealed .22 can. I traded it off.

I have a 22sparrow in transfer. I've never even heard one in person. I bought it because of the ease of maintenance and it was in stock at a local dealer.

.22 is really dirty. If you want maximum sound reduction, you may have to go sealed. But if you shoot a lot, get a take apart one or buy from a company that will service them.

Check out Liberty Suppressors as they open up sealed cans that are useless (or require $300 to the manufacturer to service them for you) and convert them to a serviceable can.

Remember that a registered tube can't be swapped out if it gets dirty and full of solid lead/carbon gunk.

I am going with the Shoofly by Liberty because they will service it for the cost of shipping after it weighs about 150% of what it started at. Waiting on the Form 4 now!

Re: Need a .22LR Suppressor - Serviceable?

With a sealed can, usually the Manufacturer has to clean it. If you want any Warranty it might have, intact. And if they even offer that service. If the serialized tube is damaged trying to get it apart, during cleaning. The owner will have to pay for another $200 tax stamp to have it replaced. That is why a user serviceable can is the best way to go now. Unless you shoot very little,,,

Re: Need a .22LR Suppressor - Serviceable?

hi just a tip for 22 cans that are sealed use an ultrasonic cleaner and hot water with a good degreaser/cleaning detergent they usualy dislodge a heap of gunk and then shake the can around to empty the loose particles. when you go to use them spray some WD40 or similar into them before and after using them it will keep the gunk softer and help cleaning it out later but the ultrasonic cleaning helps but if purchasing a 22 can get one that disasembles and then use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean them in bits.
