A friend has ask me to work up a load for his Styer 270 for hunting purposes.
I am used to working up loads for heavier contour barrels. I notice this 270 barrel gets very hot after just a few shots and starts throwing fliers.
I realize the cold bore shot is the only one that matters for a hunter.
How do you guys work up a shot series with these smaller diameter barrels?
Thank for you time.

I do it in the deep of winter with my chamber chiller. Makes it more tolerable where a reasonable warm is fine in my opinion even on the shorter weights. 4 minutes between shots in December and that barrels fine.
Well on some days. Here in Texas it could just as well be 80-99.

Keep it to three shot groups just for your sanity as well. Trying to keep it cool. Barrel coolers are essential though if you want to be done before your phone dies from browsing the hide while it cools though.
