I’m new to shooting long range. I have a Ruger rpr 338 Lapua, with a Nightforce atacr 7-35X56 mounted with a Spuhr 4006. I was rough bore siting it tonight before I go and shoot it tomorrow and to get it zeroed at 15 yards it bottomed out the windage. I figured I would ask before I break into the manual. Didn’t know if there was a way to reset the turret or some other trick. It maybe a different story when I go shoot it tomorrow afternoon but trying to get ahead of it Incase the problem proceeds. Thanks in advance

You said to get it dead up at 15 Yards you bottomed out the windage.

Up denotes the top turret not the windage. That is where I’m confused

I don't know how you could bottom out your windage turret to bore-sight at 15 yards, which is like 8 mils for that scope, but I could see bottoming out your elevation turret at 15 yards with a large optical offset. Just to be clear I don't want to offend you but your turret on the side of the scope is maxed out?

Yes, the windage. The one on the side. I read in the book last night to remove the set screw and set it to 0 after getting the scope set. So hopefully that helps

Yes and no. The bore sighting was off so that’s why it bottomed out the scope. But their scopes are made to get it zeroed, then pull the set screw and turn it all the way to zero and replace the screw. Others may be like it but I don’t know. It’s my first high end scope.

I’d suggest reading up on how the elevation zero stop on that particular optic works.

It’s the type you can set anywhere at zero or below zero that you want. Not just simply floating the cap back to zero like the windage turret.
