Need a Rem 700 bolt raceway education...

Ok people give this idiot an education, can someone try and explain to me the pros & cons, tolerances and all, of raceway reaming and bolt sleeving..

I understand its supposed to help but I just cant wrap my mind around how this greatly impacts the rifle performance..

Now days there is little reason to have a raceway reamed and a bolt sleeved. It is a lot more economical to buy a PTG bolt that fits the raceway and have the lugs and face adjusted for headspace. Or if your getting the gun re done then leave the lugs and face alone and adjust headspace on the barrel. I wouldn't even mess with the raceway unless it was way out.
