I need an advice for the mount for Leupold Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS scope. It will be mounted on my SCAR 17S. Aso, should I go quick release route or not?

Big thanks!!

I just got my scope in yesterday and installed about 5 min ago. I really like the GDI mount 0moa. If its going on a 5.56 or you are shooting 800 yards and in get a 0MOA mount. The Mark 8 34mm IMS mount was a strong contender as well.

ETA: Sorry, totally overlooked the 17s you mentiioned. I would still go 0-MOA. Some people use them with canted mounts but redmannss had some info that it was not optimal to run a 1x-?X on a canted mount.

I'm running 5.56 to 600-700 yard max so it was a non issue for me.

I will post a picture later but Bobro just came out with a nice SCAR specific mount. I have one in 30mm. You can chose which side you want the levers on its a two lever mount.

Is it true that I will not be able to see illumination on Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS M5B1 /w M-TMR day time? I called leupold 3x today and 3 different people told me I should be OK. BUT all forums say that M-TMR does not provide enough lume during daytime ...

Oh yeh, this forum ROCKS!!! you guys are awesome!

No idea on the TMR but the H27D is easily daytime visible. I have one.

QD or not that is up to you but since you have a built in front sight it would make sense to run a QD. But if you go to any of the top brands you'll be fine as far as repeatability and holding zero. I forgot that you have the 17s which is pretty much a mono length upper so you do not need to run a cantilever mount. SO if you didn't want to break the bank and can live without QD this would be a nice mount AI 34mm Picatinnny Scope Mount 6840 for sale!

Honestly, Im leaning towards none-QD mount. Not a rifle guy by far. And not a service man. But my engineering experience and long standing hobbies in other mechanical areas (racing cars for years) tell me that less moving parts is BETTER for precision. I might be way WRONG.

With Mark8, are there any mounts that will give me cowitness?

The M-TMR is not day light visible. I recently received one.

I also bought one of the Leupold Mark 8 IMS mounts for it. Nice mount and it is light.

Can someone please be more specific about mtmr not being day light visible? What exactly do you mean?? Site says that it is illuminated. Tech support say its illuminated and visible in day light. Is it not bright enough? Why would they lie???

Hi, it's me from Germany again ;o)

Just to bring in something from outside the box:
Over here ERA-TAC, a subdivision of Recknagel, is a top notch mounting systems company.
This october they start selling a ultralight AR15 mount, co-witness mounting height. No cant, available in 1", 30mm and 34mm.
AFAIK the price will be around 200€.
This will be my next mount
Ultraleight Mounts

Should it be something with QD levers:
One-Piece Mounts
Heavier and about 280€

Or with adjustable cant
Adjustable Inclination Mounts
Still heavier and costlier.

I use a 20MOA QD mount from them. TOP QUALITY!

Scope companies often have different ideas of what is acceptable daylight illumination. Some view it as ok if you can see it on a normal overcast day others like me want it to be Aimpoint bright so it is visible on a Texas sunny day.
