I have purchased some once fired IMI Match 308 brass. I have a small base die that I have used to resized most of it to SAAMI minimum chamber specifications. Unfortunately about 20% of the brass has sized too small it is approximately .003 to .008 thousands under SAAMI minimum. My question is this. Is this safe to shoot? If not is there a way to fireform it in a safe manner or should I just scrap it?

It depends on your load. It just means your case capacity and tolerance pressure is smaller. Will be fine unless you’re loading it HOT. Just work your way up, watch for pressure signs and you’ll be fine.

I agree with singleshot you should not have any problems. If you have a way to anneal the brass that would help. It sounds like the measurement you are referring to is the headspace.

It will be safe to use. I would segregate that brass and use it for load development / practice rounds. Use it up first. After the first firing, be sure not to bump the shoulders farther than .001"-.002" in the rife you're firing it in.

How much over bumped brass are you talking about?

50 / 100 / 500?
