I am in the market for a set of dies. I am looking for some dies in .308 Win. I will be loading for a TBA M40 bolt gun as well as my KAC MK 11 Mod 0. I am looking for accuracy out to 600 yards. the two Die sets are The Redding Competition series .308 die set and the Redding .308 National Match die sets. Can someone tell me the differences good and bad. I have searched the Archives but to no avail.

thanxs

Re: Need Advice on Dies Redding??

Just buy Type S bushing FL die and Comp seater, what size bushings will depend on brass used, generally Win brass needs a .331 and Lapua .336, YMMV.

National match die set: Std FL sizer, (micrometer head) Competition Bullet Seater, Crimp die

Competition die set: Micrometer head Neck Only Bushing die, Micrometer head competition bullet seated, body die.

Re: Need Advice on Dies Redding??

You'll only need the micrometer die for the bullet seater die. If you are trying to load the same bullet for both rifles you will be giving up accuracy potential on that fine TBA.
You will want the TBA cases to be fireformed to it's chamber, and then just neck size.
While the KAC cases need to be 'Full Length' sized each time to feed reliably in the magazine, and extract well.
PLUS- you may want to load heavier, higher B.C. bullets in the TBA that can't feed reliably in the KAC magazine.
So you will want to descriminate your fired brass from your TBA and your KAC for reloading purposes.
