It's been a while since I have shot long range. I still have my trusty Larue OBR with US optics scope. What's the best bolt action out there? I'm currently looking at the AI AXSR with ZCO scope. Is there any newer tech out there? Any modifications that people do for the AI platform?

Built impact or tl3 > ai. The ai trigger ruins it for me and I do not care at all about the quick barrel change.

Zco seems to be accepted the best scope out right now.

419 or badger for the scope mount

Get the axsr if that's what you want and top it with a Tangent Theta or ZCO. That package won't hold you back unless your goal is to be #1 in the prs, and you can shoot a wide variety of calibers. As far as mods to an axsr there isn't much available out there in the wild. I did see where one company was offering a "pin and bed" service for them, but I would imagine that might void your warranty.

The AXSR is pretty cool. But so are my Impact and Kelbly prs guns and they aren't insanely expensive. Plus, if you don't have reasonable access to ranges past 1k the juice may not be worth the squeeze for a magnum.

ZCO makes an impressive scope.

Yea, need you to define 'best'. If I absolutely had to make a shot at 100, I'm using my 5.56 RPR with Leupold VX3i 8-25. No matter the ammo, it's never been over .75 MOA, and that was only once. (No, I've never shot any basic plinking stuff thru it. Match grade only.) It doesn't have the 'best' of anything, but for whatever reason, it just plain works.

I have several rifles that cost 2-3x more, 'but when it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight', that's what I'm choosing.

If I had to nail something out to 800yrds, no questions asked, it would be my TacOps 308 with my Green ZCO 527 locked on top loaded with Federal T308T, "when it absolutely, positively has to be dead now" .

Whats the budget and end game. Bolt guns amd guns in general are like cars! Ferrari's are nice, but I won't be taking it to the range or dirt roads... trucks are a amazing but not taking it to the track. What's the end result you're looking for and your budget. Want all around, get a new Seekins PH3
