Need Advice Please

Gents, I am moving into long range rifle shooting and find myself keenly attracted to tactical style rifles. I'm old enough and at a point in my life where I can afford to enjoy my hobbies, to a point.

If you had $2,500 to invest in a long range sniper type platform in semi-auto, what would you advice me to do? I might be able to do more. I'm kind of attracted to the Wilson .308s, but welcome any/all input/advice.

I already own a Nightforce 5.5-22 scope and am looking for a rail system on the rifle.

PS - I have a gun club in the area with steel plates and paper out to 600 yards.

-DPMS LR308, $1200-$1300
-Quality 30mm one piece scope mount, $180-240


that leaves you with $960-$1120 for ammo and a membership to the the range, thats what I would do. The DPMS is a great out of the box rifle and it can be built upon as you enjoy it and budget allows. I would normally mention a higher end custom gas gun but your new to the game,
I'd rather dip my toe in the water and make sure its worth investing some BIG $$ and time to you.

If you don't mind the wait, get a GAP-10. If you don't want to wait, get a POF in .308.

What they have all said. Gap10 or POF. GAP you can customize all your options but there is a huge wait time.

same place i ordered mine from.

20" stainless barrel LMT MWS IN STOCK for $2890. If ordered today, then you'll be shooting it on monday I'm sure. Mine is a 20" chrome lined in which I got mine for $2500 dollars but is no stainless..... then down the road you can purchase the new twist 6.5 creed when they come out from LMT. You would be set with this, your nightforce scope, and a nice larue mount LT158.

I just made the same decision and I went with a DPMS LR-308 with a stainless fluted barrel.
