I need to get several pairs of compact binos. I am thinking that 6X would suffice, but it looks like 8X is the most common lower power compact bino. They will be used for close in work probably 50 yds being the longest. Money is not really too much of an object but I would like to keep it under $300 a pair if possible. I have tried all kinds of searches everywhere and I am pretty much coming empty.

I would like some of your input on which ones are good. I am looking for the smallest, lighest binos possible with low magnification, that are GOOD quailty.

Right now I am leaning towards the Leupold 8x25 dual hinge model, mainly because these are the only decent ones I can find that fit the criteria.

Thanks in advance.

Longcut,

Try these, they are very good:

Leupold 6x32 Green Ring Katmai Binocular
Stock # - LEU56410 $344.95

* Matte
* BK7 prisms treated with L-coat
* Fully multi-coated lenses
* Roof prism
* Twist-up eyecups
* Armored
* Waterproof
* Nitrogen filled

The quality is very good, and 6x are very useful. May not be a compact as you want though.

Or you can try these:

Minox 6.5x32 BR

Look at the NIKON line. I have a set of 7x20 7.1 degree. They are very small and very clear and bright. They focous fast and I wear them with the bino strap and you never know they are there. I am very impressed with them. I have a set of 10x50 Nikon which I like but they are heavy. The optics are very clear and bright. I am impressed with Nikon Products overall. I have Leupold and you cannot wrong with them either. Good Luck on Your Selection.
