Hi
I was at the gunshop today and looked at 1911's. I currently have a sig 226 black water.I used to have a kimber cdpII. And have since then had the itch to get another. After feeling a number of them, from all differnt makers. I decided on the sig scorpion carry. It felt right.

My ? is this. Should i get the full size as opposed to the carry,This will be carried in the near future as i am working on getting my CCW. And other than that it will be used for home defense and will have a trl 1 mounted on it.

Is this a good product? as far as 1911? My first impressions were great, but never owning a sig 1911 i thought i would ask. and it is in my price range.

Any imput is appreciated.
Thank you

If you are in fact going to carry it (alot) then the compact would be my choice. I've had both 4" and 5" 1911's. The 4" is always easier to carry.

Did I read somewhere that the Sig slides were a bit wider than a standard 1911, which required a special holster? If this is the case, does it apply to their smaller models?

I carry a full sized Wilson 1911 no problem IWB. Edit: I also do this with no holster, as well as with a holster IWB. Never any issues.

I personally have no experience with Sig 1911 pistols. I had a Springfield TRP for a while, which I believe is in a similar price range. That was as good as a non-custom 1911 got in my book.

I am now selling my Wilson CQB to help pay for my new Nighthawk AAC + TiRant 45 can

. That's the last 1911 I'll own. For now ...

I carry a full size Ed Brown 1911 IWB, but it requires a Tucker and a GOOD belt to be comfortable. I also carry a Glock 36 in a Crossbreed IWB--you can probably guess which of these gets carried more. If I were to go to a 1911 for carry ALL the time, I would go to at least a 4" with aluminum frame--but more likely a 3"

You can get a "traditional" Sig if you like, which the slide is designed like a traditional 1911. If you don't get the "traditional" then yes the top of the slide is wider and more squared that normal 1911's, which can make a holster decision a little more complicated. On the flip side, they are making a hell of a nice 1911 now days!

Those sig scorpions are sweet looking firearms. You've also got a sweet one in you collection already I love my Blackwater. I have never CC a pistol yet but have open carried and pocketed a gun in my house before and just from that expereince I personally wouldnt want to conceal and lug around a full size 1911. I have a buddy that does and does it often but I just wouldnt be able to get used to it. A 4" or even a 3" would lend itself much better to being carried concealed not only in the length department but also the weight of the thing. Plus since you've got your 226 for a range toy go small on your carry piece.
