Hey crew,

I just started the application process with AK state troopers/Wilderness troopers.

I'm good to go on all the requirements and feel (hear this in an humble tone) I'm a shining candidate, except for my lead foot. They only allow you to have no more than 2 traffic citations in a two year period. I have 4, but only three are on record.

So just curious if any body on here knew anybody in the dept. or how they might put in a word- all that jazz.

Let me know & thanks,
Tres

Re: Need help from Alaskans! Calling AK!

Good Luck to you!I had a couple of friends make the program but both left after a couple of years-I always thought it would be a dream job but like anything else politics rules-You'll get posted in some real crapholes to weed out those who may not want a career-If you have a pilots license that would be a big legup as Alaska is a big place with law enforcement having to travel long distances to investigate or arrest-If your on the highway system I doubt if its much different than law enforcement anywhere else-hope it works for you and if it does I drive a black 94 Chevy PU that is always going to fast and still has studs on after the May 1st deadline so I hope it works out for me!

Thanks, I have a good bit of single engine flight experience and have some hours logged I put that down too.

Im not in AK, but am in LE. Dont try to lie about that one citation thats not on record. Theyll find out and cut you faster than cancer.

Re: Need help from Alaskans! Calling AK!

Hey thanks for the tip. Yeah I'm putting it all down. If anything I'm "too open/honest" if their is such a thing.

Thanks bro.

He's talking about going to Seward A laska for 12 weeks where the state patrol academy is mirrored after Marine Boot camp.

Ye ha! My hat is off to you, throw out the Devalcourt name, father in law - in Fairbanks - he knew every State Trooper up there.

They do not move quickly up there, it's rather comparable to Molasses in Fairbanks..

If you are in Fairbanks or North POle area PM me and I'll put you in touch with someone I know who knows someone that may be able to help....(It helps maintaining connections to Alaska.)

Well despite having a no BS two weeks to get the 40+ page application filled out and returned to them while I had Strep & Mono, I got it done. It's up to them now to understand how wonderful I am. : )

Thanks for pulling for me,
Tres

My dad was the electrical Eng who did all the work on Spring Creek when it was being built, I would stay with him during the summers when he was at the job, I would take my BB gun up to the top of the one big tower and try to shoot seagulls as they flew by. Good times as a kid playing in a prison. I was 12 and had the run of the place.
