Need help, getting a 7saum to feed

Okay, kind of throwing up my hands here, need some advise

I have a stiller short action. Chambered in 7saum. First I tried the Wyatt center feed box. They were popping out of mag. I actually returned that, maybe should have worked lips a bit, but in reality I have the same box on a long action, yes it works but not very smooth. I went and tried the regular Wyatt mag box and factory saum follower. Long story short no dice.

I'm at the point I'm looking for other options. Interested in looking at a aics mag or similar. Issue being I would like an extended box. Need 2.96 or so, or would like

So first question. What's the box length on these mags?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Would like more than a single shot. And honestly better feeding than the center feed mag box

If you go with AICS-compatible bottom metal (or a chassis), you could use Alpha Type 3 & 4 mags to get a COAL of around 2.96":

Alpha 300 WSM Type 3

Alpha 300 WSM Type 4

I don't know about the Stiller action, but my Rem700 action required some very minor modification of the rails in order to feed 7mmWSM cartridges without scratching the cases. It was literally a few seconds of work with a rotary tool and small grinding stone. Here's a crappy picture of the spot prior to grinding:

Also, I don't mean to pick nits here, but I know how it is when you're trying to stuff a cartridge into a short action....

I have 7 or 8 Alpha type 3s and 4s, and I'd say the practical limit to your COAL will be 2.950". If every bullet was absolutely perfect, you can stretch that number out to 2.96 or maybe even 2.965", but due to the variances in bullets due to manufacturing, if you set your seater for an average of 2.950, you'll get some up in the 2.96-2.965 territory, and those will be on the ragged edge of getting hung up in the magazine.

Agreed completely. I don't have my reloading notes in front of me for this particular round, but with most rounds, variation of at least 0.025-0.050" with match-type hollowpoints is highly likely, and it could go higher than that depending upon the bullet brand and type.

Thanks guys, I ended up placing a order for an Accurate Mag for the 300wsm. In my head I thought is was a 5 round, but website says 3. I only mention it because then I went on PT&G and bought their last sale "non flush" bottom metal........well, I'm thinking now, the darn things might not fit together, not flush not allowing mag to seat,,,, but, who knows, I'll have to wait and see when it arrives. Heck, I could have ordered to incompatible pieces too,,,but they both say they are aics compatiable

might have pull out the fill and make a flush box, Thats what I get for saving 30 bucks!
