THANKS GUYS

Re: NEED HELP LOAD FOR 7MM MAG 168GR BERGERS

Varget is too fast for a magnum. You might be able to get by with the H4350, but for sure you can use H1000. RL22 or H4831SC seem to be the most popular powders for the 7mags. I use 4831SC myself on a 7WSM.

Thunderbolt,

If you contact Berger, they will provide you some data with that bullet.

Hodgdon has data on their website for most of their powders, for the 162 A-Max and the 170 Gr. Sierra. Doesn't take much interpolation to gin up a starting load and work up loads for a 168 gr bullet. Note: Hodgdon published Max loads for the 7mm Rem Mag are on the light side, but still work up from below.

I built a 7mm Mag load for a friend:

Berger 168 VLD
WW Brass
72 gr H-1000
Fed 215
3.410" COAL
26" Hart Barrel 1-9"
3017 FPS

H-1000, Retumbo, RL 22 and 25 all seem to be excellent powders for the 7mm Rem Mag.

Re: NEED HELP LOAD FOR 7MM MAG 168GR BERGERS

72gr of H1000 in my eyes is a bit heavy. with 168 SMK's i run 67.5gr of H1000 or 65gr of RL 22 in my 7 WSM with a 28" 1:9.5 twist, My good friend shoots a normal 7mag and tried to use my data to work up his load and ended up turning the load wayyyy down

Big question is whats the barrel info? the long 284 bullets, bergers especially run right at the edge when stability comes into play, dont try to slam the load as fast as you can, i found the large case 7's to shoot much better when you give em some breathing room. I'll try to get the load info and PM ya later tonight with it

Re: NEED HELP LOAD FOR 7MM MAG 168GR BERGERS

Lyman recommends starting at 53.0gr 2571 vel to 61.0 max 2925 vel. for 4350, and 65.5gr 2645 to 73gr 2971 for h1000 with 168gr bullet. Hope that helps 24 in barrel was used

Re: NEED HELP LOAD FOR 7MM MAG 168GR BERGERS

I have had good results with Ramshot Magnum

Winchester prepped brass
Federal Gold medal match magnum primers
COL 3.35
168gr Sierra match King
70gr of Ramshot Magnum

Re: NEED HELP LOAD FOR 7MM MAG 168GR BERGERS

I have a factory 7mmRemMag.
I have built (3) 7mmRemMag rifles.
I will probably build another 7mmRemMag by October.

I have tried Re22 and H4831sc.
I have tried 175 gr SP and 160 gr TX.

I have mostly shot 62.8 gr H4350 with 162 gr SST 3.34".
It will shoot 2950 fps from one 26" tube and 3050 fps from another 26" tube.
