I have a Savage model 12 varmint low profile. I bought a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x50 Long range scope for it. I'm using Leupold dual dovetail bases for now...which 30mm rings will I need medium or high?

I have gotten into the habit of using stacked quarters or even clay to put the scope on the rifle where I want it, both vertically and longitudinally, checking for barrel, base, and bolt clearance, and then measuring the thickness of the clay or spacers. Then I can get the correct ring height the first time.
