had the hooper bottom metal installed on my rem 700 la in 338 lapua but the follower keeps the bolt from closing when the mag is empty. would it be alright to bevel the back side of the follower so it will work. and how do i get the mag appart?

Re: need help with a AICS 338 mag

You should be fine to bevel the follower:

The bottom plate should slide off. Insert a small punch in the front hole on the bottom and slide the plate to the front of the mag. There's a small bump at the front that locks the plate behind the mag body.

We bevel all the followers on 338 mags at work. no reduction in strength or reliability. Just draw a line on the follower at the back of the mag so you dont grind to much and grind a 45 degree angle. works great.
