I Have a suppressor that is 4 months in to being approved. Today the employee that does the transfers called me to tell me that the owner came in last night and laid every one off and said he was closing the shop.
He is in contact with the ATF to try to get it transferred to a different dealer. What should I or can I do? The employee sent 3 suppressors out with mine that are his personal suppressors so I think he is motivated to get things handled.

Thanks for any advice.

Same thing happened to me. My dealer closed his business while my transfer was in the approval process with the ATF. My dealer told me that he is still able to complete the transfer even though he is no longer doing business. My dealer is on the up / up so believe him.
But depending on what type of transfer you have going, they will either mail the tax stamp back you or your dealer. Still not bad if your dealers address dosnt change. Though, he can transfer the item to another dealer but should do it now while the approval process is in motion cause that can take another 4 weeks or so.

Well...its has got better. Called the BTAF today and they have not received my paperwork or my check. They said my suppressor was transferred to the dealer and that is it. Guess its time to get a lawyer involved. This process is hard enough without all this crap!

Ouch, did you not send it via Priority Mail? I spent the $4.95 and sent it Priority to make sure I got a tracking number and details too.

Unfortunately, I've been in the same position on a transfer. Fortunately, after eight (8) months, two lawyers, three certified letters, a hundred phone calls, a million e-mails, and a case and a half of Tums; I got my gun.

I hope your ordeal is quick and painless. Mine wasn't. Here's a link to my story:

Keep records, of everything. Play nice, that worked to my advantage. Lawyer up, but just a bit. Don't give up and BE PATIENT.

Oh yea, BE PATIENT.
