I was recently talked out of my Colt M4A1 (SOCOM-II) for a mint, all USGI TRW parts (I was told), Springfield M1A with a CRITERION mid length chrome lined barrel, Vltor CAR stock and a Leupold scope and Sadlak mount.

I'm not a big M14 fan, but this looks like a nice one. I was wondering about dumping it for a Fn SCAR 17s. Would that be the wrong way to go? I have a Kimber 308 hunting rifle and a Sako TRG long range set up, I kind of wanted another range cranker. Thoughts?

Out of those three guns, I'd have kept the Block II M4 as its the most versatile, and would much rather keep my SCAR 17S over my M1A. I wouldn't use my 17S for long range work though, its a battle rifle through and through.
