A buddy of mine loaded 300 rounds of 223 with 6 1/2 remington primers for prairie dog hunting.
he shot some and found blown and pierced primers.
I looked on the internet and found that the 6 1/2 are not recommended for 223. he had them for his 218 bee.
now he has to deprime 300 cases
HOW DO YOU DO THIS SAFELY?

Pull the bullets, recover the powder and, with saftey glasses on, deprime them as one would spent primers. If you want to be really thoughtful, a collet type puller will be less damaging to the bullets and a universal deprimer won't needlessly resize the case.

Pull all the bullets, dump the powder and decap as normal. Just wear eye protection
and go slower with the press. I re use the primers as well for plinkers and practice
ammo.

Hello,

I have never had a problem removing the occassional live primer. On the other hand 300 is quite a few to deal with. If he takes it slow when decapping then there should be no problems.
