A buddy of mine loaded 300 rounds of 223 with 6 1/2 remington primers for prairie dog hunting.
he shot some and found blown and pierced primers.
I looked on the internet and found that the 6 1/2 are not recommended for 223. he had them for his 218 bee.
now he has to deprime 300 cases
HOW DO YOU DO THIS SAFELY?

Re: need help

Pull the bullets, recover the powder and, with saftey glasses on, deprime them as one would spent primers. If you want to be really thoughtful, a collet type puller will be less damaging to the bullets and a universal deprimer won't needlessly resize the case.

Re: need help

Pull all the bullets, dump the powder and decap as normal. Just wear eye protection
and go slower with the press. I re use the primers as well for plinkers and practice
ammo.

Re: need help

Hello,

I have never had a problem removing the occassional live primer. On the other hand 300 is quite a few to deal with. If he takes it slow when decapping then there should be no problems.
