Rifle Scopes Need input on 2.5-16 Elite, 4-16 Viper or ..

Re: Need input on 2.5-16 Elite, 4-16 Viper or ..

I have the Bushnell Elite 2.5-16. I also have Leupold VX-3, Nightforce and Bushnell Elite 4200's, to name a few.

I find the Elite 2.5-16 very bright with no discernible fish-bowl at the lowest power. Not a lot of 6x factor scopes can pull that off. My only gripe is the adjustment knobs under the caps. Kinda cheap! Plastic, I believe and I bet I could break them in haste.

Overall, I am happy with the optic.

Thanks AN..
The Bushnell can be had for $550, the Viper about $100 less.
Vortex has way better CS but the scope is heavier and probably not as bright or sharp but is likely mechanically sound....

I have the bushnell elite 6500 2.5 and i really love it. Now mine is the std plex model withiut the turrets and all but it has great glass and has been very rugged. The turrets are plastic and feel cheap but I have yet to have one shift or fail.

Re: Need input on 2.5-16 Elite, 4-16 Viper or ..

I've got a couple Elite 6500 2.5-16x42s w/mildot reticle & capped MOA turrets. I do see a very slight fisheye effect @ 2.5x, but that is only at the very edges of the sight picture and not really noticeable in use unless you focus your eye away from center to pick it up.
Zoom range is super versatile and I think the 2.5-16x makes a great "all around" scope. Glass is nice & clear and turrets track true, although I don't often dial them on hunting rigs. Reticle hold off subtends true @ 10x, marked as such on the mag ring. Rainguard coating for sloppy wet conditions actually works.
Overall,I think those Bushy Elites are hard to match in their price range. Used, they'd be had for ~$500-550. If the turrets matched, they'd really be something, but Bushnell covered that with their 3-12x44 Tactical, and it's FFP to boot...

I have the the Bushnell Elite 6500 Tactical 2.5-16 x 42 with MIl-DOT Reticle & push-pull 1/4 MOA turrets on a Savage 10 FCP-K in 308 Win.

I have no complaints, when I do my part it puts them right on the dot.
