Im building a 6.5x47 rifle, PRIMARILY for hunting groundhogs and coyote. I would also like to be able to take it deer hunting if I can keep the weight under 10 lbs. Im stuck between the Manners MCS T3, and the Manners MCS T2. When going for groundhogs and coyote I am shooting mostly supported from a tripod. I like the flat bottom of the stock because it sits good. I really like the T2 cause it is similiar to my McMil A3-5. What am I gaining or loosing by going with one Manners over the other? The stock is the last thing I need to order for this build.

Re: Need Manners Stock Advice

I've got the T2 and used it for deer hunting this season. It worked great. Looking back, I should have gotten left side flush cups to make sling carry a bit more convenient.

Since I also planned on using this as a comp rig, I got the mini-chassis. It's a great design, but I wouldn't use it on a strictly hunting build. Frankly, I've never needed more than one shot to kill a deer. If I were building a strictly hunting-only build, I'd do a carbon-fiber T2, left side flush cups with underside rail (for an Atlas), and then figure out how best to do an internal magazine.

Any chance you could take a pic of your rifle? It sounds very interesting. what contour barrel do you have on it? And Do I have to order the flush cups from Manners when I order the stock? I dont see carbon fiber as an option for the T2 either. It looks like it weighs 2.6lbs

I have 3 T3s and love them because I like the more traditional grip style versus the more vertical grip. But if you like your A3 then the T2 sounds like it would be your choice.

I just got my newest T3 in the woodland molded in finish and really like it alot. Got the mini chassis for it as well. Now just waiting for my Surgeon 591 and the Bartlein 6mm barrel will get screwed on and my new .243 will be done.
