Need Reputable AK Gunsmith

Keep in mind that with the way the supply chain is going, any lead time you are quoted could easily double unless they have all the parts sitting at their shop in hand and ready to assemble for your build.

That is what I am seeing. I have parts in hand, luckily. I just hate this “it will be done when it’s done” bullshit. I would rather some quote 3 months and meet the deadline then someone say 2 weeks and take 2 months. 😂

One year??!

I am not at all trying to be a smart ass.......... But with these "conditions" the time has come for those with average mechanical aptitudes to tool up, get some instruction and do most of your own work.
Goes for autos, tractors, lawn mowers, snow blowers, jet skies, snow machines, RV's..... Garbage disposals, toilets, loose shingles, etc.... There are people around who will mentor those willing to give it a try.

I was actually looking into this. The only thing I don’t want to get into is barrel threading. I don’t mind doing the rest.

Doesn't Brandon Herrera live in Texas now?
I don't know but every time I try to watch his videos it's painfully obvious he doesn't know that much about firearms operating systems. Or cartridges. Or ballistics. Or shooting.
It's all personality with a little wikipedia knowledge and brochure reading thrown in.

Conroe, Texas. Mike is a big supporter of the AK competition community. Builds some great AK competition platforms. Not sure what your wanting to get done but if his shop cannot help you out he knows who to send you to.

I have a couple of their Saiga/Vepr12 mag couplers and have seen a few of their competition V12s at three gun matches over the years.

The mag couplers work great and the shotguns have always ran when I was watching, so I'd probably trust them to get a functioning gun at the end of the day. Not sure if you're looking for an uber-clone correct AK or if Dissident does that sort of thing, so be sure to make your desired endstate very clear from the outset.

I'll also throw out a shop/smith to avoid: Quentin Blevins at Iron Curtain Creations. Not sure if they/he are even still in the game, but back in 2014/15 he took three complete kit builds on and after nearly two years I had a Krink that won't cycle reliably unless it's wearing a suppressor (fortuitous, now that I run it suppressed 100% of the time and it doesn't beat itself to death, but that's not the point) and he eventually shipped the other kits back with a check for the build fees. No idea what the guys deal was, but building shit he'd taken money for wasn't one of them.
