I was leaning towards the 8-32x56 NF benchrest for a while but am kind of kicking the idea of the 12-42x56 around now. the rifle is a POF build with a 22" JP barrel and I will be using this for mostly benchrest shooting. For the most part, i wil lbe shooting 200-500 yards but will also have times where ill be at a private range that goes out to 1700. I dont really PLAN on trying to hit 1700..but would like to try 1000 at time. anywho, I have a 20 moa scope mount now on the rifle, just need glass. according to my ballistic calculator, with a 200 yard zero, at 1000 yards, ill need roughly 32 vertical moa. the 12-42x56 BR has 40/40. would this scope with this scope mount be enough to get me to 1000 yards? or should i stick with the 8-32x56 since it has 50 moa?

For what you want to do, the 8-32X 56mm will be more than enough with more flexibility. Even something in the 3-24X range would be fine and more practical at the shorter distances you plan to shoot most often.

With the 20 MOA mount you have and the adjustment range of the 8-32X56 should be all that you need especially since it has a larger elevation adjustment range. I have 2 8-32X56 on my long range shooting rifles. One on a TRG 22 and the other on a AIAW and am very pleased with their performance.
