Rifle Scopes Need some customer service help with FN

Ive got an FN PBR in .308 that has the 20 MOA base. I finally got a scope and was going to mount it but after observing the base decided to remove it as it just looked "off" to me. Low and behold there is about a 1/16" to 1/8" gap at the rear of the base where it should rest on the receiver. I called FN to see if they would warranty it and they want me to send in my entire rifle. After i explained that i know it is the base as the base off of my 6.5 CM FN fits fine, and the base that is off the .308 has the same gap on my 6.5 CM the guy on the phone chastised me a lil for removing the bases. At this point i was annoyed by the customer service.

Does anybody know someone at FN that might be able to help me with out sending my rifle back? Thanks!

BTW, i just realized this ought to go to the Bolt Rifle section...sorry bout that.

Re: Need some customer service help with FN

I know that since it's a new rifle, everything should be "just perfect". Receiver's differ, bases differ, and sometimes they fit well, and sometimes they don't.

However, bedding a base yourself is neither complicated nor expensive. Plenty of "how to's" in the gun smithing forum. Just bed-it and rock on, no sense in getting aggravated about it.....

You get more of an MOA if you just bed the base as it is now

But jokes aside that's kind of crappy. I would call back and if it's the same guy/girl who answered the first time and they won't help you then ask to speak to someone else. Hopefully after doing this a time or two you'll speak to someone who is willing to help you out on your issue. It shouldn't be that big of a deal to get the part replaced but I also feel like quality controll shouldn't have let it out of the factory without a base that fits properly.

Hope this helps,
