The bolt lugs on my TAC338 are getting rough up and loosing surface contact....thoughts? How do I take care of it? Lap the bolt lugs?

First they are not loosing contact. If that was the case your bolt handle would acting as a lug. From your pictures I don't see traditional galling where metal is rolled up and there is either a groove or a high spot that causes an opposing groove. I could tell more if it was in my shop but it isn't so this is what I would do. Find a local smith and do a very light lapping of the lugs. And remember grease is your friend. Without it bad stuff can and will happen.

Anything you have around will work. Quality isn't that important. Just use it every time you shoot. Put some on the cocking cam surface every time also. I've seen bolts where that surface was galled from lack of lubrication.

What Mr. T said is exactly right. However, if you want your rifle to giggle with glee, and if you want the right to look down your nose at mere mortals that use rag-lar grease, Brownell's Action Magic grease is the kitties whiskers and is good to have on hand in general for any gun dude. Good for lugs, great for sear/hammer hooks [(etc.) lightens trigger pull a tad] works as anti-seize on threads-and accurizes torque values when gingerly applied to threads and under the head or on the surface of the shoulder/stop of the threaded thing...etc, etc and on & on. Even comes in a tactical graphite black hue! I have nothing to do with Brownell's, this is not a paid advertisement, not recommended for cuts or abrasions on skin, and as always, consult your buddies doctor before you shoot him for flirting with your gurl.
