need some help for a friend

my shooting buddy just bought himself a Remington 700 in the 30-06 cal.
I want to hook him up with a new barrel an stock for Christmas. what i need to know is were in the world i can find a barrel for it, all i can seem to find is barrels in the 308 cal.

looking for a 30-06 HEAVY barrel,24", no front site post, blued would be prefered, but SS is fine as hes going to paint it anyway.

I owe this guy my life so this is very important to me an i know if anybody can steer me in the right direction its you guys.

Uhh .308 and a .30-06 is the same barrel.

Just get a .308 barrel speced the way you like (1:10" probably best twist for 30.06) and then just get the gunsmith to chamber it for .30-06 prior to mounting/truing the action.

Brownells carrys them but seems to be out of stock...have you tried Remington? They could send you to a dealer who has them.

Tell him to be sure he has or gets the new X Mark Pro trigger. Despite many who argue, there is sizeable evidence that many of thier old triggers would fire when closeing the bolt and at other inopportune times..
