My brother has an 110, '06' that he wants to start shooting more, but has has some shoulder issues in the past. So I was planning on running some 155's in it for him, since Berger has the 155 hunting bullet. It would only be used for target, whitetail, and possibly muleys when we get a chance to head west.

My question is to you guys that are running an 06 with the 155's, which powder have you found to do well?

ww748 is the standby powder and works good as well as blc-2 and I believe h335. There are more choices than we want to believe. If he has shoulder problems, look for reduced loads that can still get the job done. One of the manuals has them.Hornady used to publish reduced loads and I think sierra does. These are not powder puff loads and will still be efficient enough to do the job.

I use a Limbsaver Slip-On pad for many of my rifles, regardless of their recoil amplitude. Primarily, I need more LOP and it's a pretty convenient way to get it.

But they can and do provive significant recoil rmitigation.

For youngsters in the family I am a fairly serious proponent of Remington's 'Reduced Recoil' Core-Lokt factory loads.

They put a 125gr Core-Lokt into a very similar trajectory as the Core-Lokt Express 150 and 165gr loads, and are quite adequate and acccurate to take deer within a 200yd distance limitation.

Here in the Northeast, it's not really very frequently that longer shots on deer will become available anyway.

His shoulder isn't that bad where he needs a reduced recoil load. His rifle just has a light contour barrel and he was shooting some heavies last time he shot. So instead of listening to him complain about the heavies I was going to go to the 155's.

Think it looks like 4350 is will be then. Hoping to have luck with it and the 155's
